Synopsis

The apocalypse is upon us… Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire) and Oscar-nominated writer Alex Garland (Civil War, Ex Machina) reunite for 28 YEARS LATER, a terrifying new “auteur horror” set in the same devastated world they created in post-apocalyptic horror, 28 Days Later. It’s been almost three decades since the rage virus escaped a biological weapons laboratory, and now, still in a ruthlessly enforced quarantine, some have found ways to exist amidst the infected. One such group of survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily-defended causeway. When one member of the group (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) leaves the island on a mission into the dark heart of the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders, and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors as well. The highly anticipated next instalment in the genre-defining zombie thriller franchise features an all-star lineup including Golden Globe winner Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Nosferatu), Emmy winner Jodie Comer (Prima Facie), Oscar nominee Ralph Fiennes (Conclave) and BAFTA rising star Jack O’Connell (Sinners), introducing Alfie Williams. Executive produced by OG 28 Days Later survivor, Cillian Murphy, 28 YEARS LATER is merely the first in a new planned trilogy of films from the brilliant minds of Boyle and Garland.

Reviews

"A triumphant return, one of the scariest films of the year... Masterful and inventive cinematography makes 28 Years Later horrifically immersive."

- Mashable

"[Garland] and Boyle should be applauded for taking such big swings and having the flair and confidence to pull them off. It’s an astonishing piece of work."

- The Times (UK)

"28 Years Later shatters already high expectations with a raw and unflinching exploration of a post-apocalyptic world decimated by the Rage Virus. Director Danny Boyle, writer Alex Garland, and cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle deliver horror greatness."

- MovieWeb

"One of the strangest, most exhilarating blockbusters in recent memory. It’s a truly bizarre piece of art that’s somehow both grotesque and extremely moving."

- Bloomberg News

"It glows with Boyle's visual flair, Garland's ambitious screenplay and a towering performance from Ralph Fiennes."

- BBC

"One of the richest horror movies in a very long time."

- Entertainment Weekly

"This is an unusually soulful coming-of-age movie considering the number of spinal cords that get ripped right of bodies."

- Associated Press
