In Itsaso Arana’s directorial debut, this captivating summer tale follows a group of women in a country house, uncovering their fears and achievements, comraderies, conflicts and loves.
A writer gathers four actresses at a converted old mill, now a country house, for a week in summer to rehearse her play; two are established actresses and two are newcomers. Over the first few days, the group settles in - to the environment, the town, the house, the play, and to themselves. As part of rehearsals and the creative process, the girls begin to share their yearnings and their own personal stories. Gradually, a spell takes hold, and the girls create a curious ecosystem that allows them to be immersed in and transformed by the play.
Featuring a cast of up-and-coming actresses, THE GIRLS ARE ALRIGHT is an enchanting, joyous tale about hope, love, loss, legacy and the creative process.
