The Russell Hobbs British Film Festival presents a Sparkling Matinee Preview of The Christophers, a sharp and darkly comic new film from acclaimed director Steven Soderbergh, led by Golden Globe winner Ian McKellen and Emmy-winner Michaela Coel.

Julian Skyler (McKellen), a once-celebrated painter, finds his unfinished works at the centre of a covert scheme led by his estranged children. They enlist a skilled restorer, Lori (Coel), to complete the paintings, blurring the line between preservation and imitation. As their dynamic deepens, what begins as forgery evolves into a subtle tension around authorship, authenticity and ownership.

Wry, intimate and layered, The Christophers examines the uneasy relationship between artistic creation and commercial value, as personal ambition and creative integrity increasingly pull against one another.
