Synopsis
A sharp, twisted Aussie comedy about family, privilege, and overstaying your welcome. When Cory and his heavily pregnant wife Jasmine are evicted and out of work, they do what many millennials would: move back in with Mum and Dad. Just for a little while… But as the stay stretches on, tensions explode in this wickedly sharp Aussie satire about entitlement, the housing crisis, and family boundaries pushed to breaking point. Zoe Pepper’s feature debut is a biting, absurd, and uncomfortably relatable comedy where baby boomer wealth collides with millennial despair - all within the four walls of one family home. Featuring standout performances from Travis Jeffery, Maria Angelico, Michael Hurst and Linda Cropper, Birthright takes a scalpel to intergenerational privilege with theatrical flair and pitch-black humour. Premiering at Tribeca and shot in WA, Birthright holds up a cracked mirror to modern Australia delivering laughs, bruises, and truths in equal measure.
