Synopsis
Nominated for a Golden Globe for his mesmerising, tour de force performance, Ethan Hawke (Before trilogy) stars as Lorenz Hart in Oscar-nominated auteur Richard Linklater’s (Before trilogy, Boyhood) acclaimed biographical drama, BLUE MOON. Blending humour and pathos in classic Linklater fashion, BLUE MOON is a heartbreaking and humorous portrait of one crucial night in the turbulent life of the legendary Broadway lyricist. On March 31, 1943, Lorenz Hart faces an uncertain future as his professional and private life unravels during the opening night party of "Oklahoma!" - a new hit Broadway musical by his former colleague Richard Rodgers (Andrew Scott, All of Us Strangers). As the evening unfolds, a newly sober Hart finds himself at a crossroad, unsure of his place in a world that is rapidly changing around him. Featuring a luminous ensemble cast including Scott, Margaret Qualley (The Substance), and Bobby Cannavale (The Irishman), and anchored by Hawke’s career-best turn, BLUE MOON is as richly melancholic and sharply written as one of Rodgers and Hart’s toe-tapping, heart-stirring compositions.
