Synopsis

A24's I SAW THE TV GLOW - one of the most hyped films of the year among cinephiles - is the follow-up to extraordinarily talented filmmaker Jane Schoenbrun's 2021 thriller 'We’re All Going to the World’s Fair'. Receiving overwhelimg positive reviews from critics, Schoenbrun's weridly wonderful TV-addict mystery/horror is being praised as "awe-inspiringly original" (Empire) and a "future classic" (The Guradian). The eerie and complex story is anchored by magnificent performances especially from Brigette Lundy-Paine who brings brings an authentic adolescent rage to Maddy, and a revelatory Justice Smith in the lead role. Isolated teen Owen (Smith) is just trying to make it through life in the suburbs when his classmate Maddy (Lundy-Paine) introduces him to the mysterious late-night TV show, 'The Pink Opaque', and a vision of a supernatural world beneath their own. In the pale glow of the television, Owen's view of reality begins to crack. Schoenbrun's strong sense for '90s cult classic aesthetics shines through in this surreal nostaligic trip that captures the desparation of a perpetual outsider's need to escape the claustrophobia of suburban America.
