Synopsis

Television will never be the same. Returning to cinemas 50 years on from its release, Sidney Lumet’s four-time Academy Award winning NETWORK, follows a television network struggling with poor ratings until an incident on air causes viewership to suddenly increase. During the nightly live broadcast of its longtime news anchor Howard Beale (Academy Award winner Peter Finch) inadvertently showcases his breakdown into increasingly psychotic behaviour, which makes his show a surprise hit. This stunt allows ambitious producer Diana Christensen (Academy Award winner Faye Dunaway) to develop even more outrageous programming, a concept that she takes to unsettling extremes. Featuring standout performances from a star-studded ensemble cast, including Academy Award winner Beatrice Straight, Academy Award winner William Holden and Academy Award nominee Ned Beatty.
