SCA24 When in Rome

A heartwarming romantic drama about love and going on a journey of discovery, WHEN IN ROME pays an irresistible homage to art, love, and the Eternal City. To celebrate their fortieth wedding anniversary, Danish couple Gerda (Bodil Jørgensen, THE KINGDOM, PERSONA NON GRATAand Kristoffer (Kristian Halken, CAMINO) travel to Rome to relive and immerse themselves in the city where Gerda was once an aspiring art student. When they unexpectedly run into her former art teacher and lover Johannes (Rolf Lassgård, A MAN CALLED OVE), Gerda is reminded of the life she used to live. Their meeting has unforeseen consequences and while Gerda begins to wander the streets of the Eternal City in search of her long-lost youth, Kristoffer is left out. The Closing Night film at the 2024 Göteborg Film Festival, WHEN IN ROME is directed by director/choreographer Niclas Bendixen, who choreographed Mads Mikkelsen’s famous dance scene in Academy Award winner ANOTHER ROUND. Imbued with life and dance, the film is a life-affirming story about how marriage and love change over time.
