Synopsis

These games are going to be different. Based on Suzanne Collins’ best-selling novel, twenty-four years before the events of Katniss’ saga, a young Haymitch Abernathy (talented Australian newcomer Joseph Zada) is reaped for the Fiftieth Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell, where there are double the number of tributes. Alone in a world where he doesn’t know who to trust and the controlling image of the Capitol looms over the districts, he must decide whether to be crushed under the weight of their oppressive regime or go down fighting. Featuring an all-star ensemble cast as younger versions of fan favourite characters, including Elle Fanning as the eccentric Effie Trinket, Kieran Culkin as the charismatic Caeser Flickerman, Jesse Plemons as the perceptive Plutarch Heavensbee and Academy Award nominated Ralph Fiennes taking over the titular role of President Snow. May the odds be ever in your favour.
