    Director: Mary Bronstein

Cast: Rose Byrne, Delaney Quinn, Mary Bronstein

Winner of the Silver Bear for Best Leading Performance at this year’s Berlinale Film Festival, Rose Byrne delivers a tour de force in A24’s visceral IF I HAD LEGS I’D KICK YOU – writer-director Mary Bronstein’s darkly comic and unflinchingly honest portrait of modern motherhood. Linda (Byrne) is a therapist who can barely help herself, let alone anyone else. With her life crashing down around her, Linda attempts to navigate her child's mysterious illness, her absent husband, a missing patient, and an increasingly hostile relationship with her own therapist (played by funnyman Conan O’Brien in his dramatic film debut). When her bedroom ceiling collapses, forcing her and her daughter into a sterile hotel room, Linda’s fragile sense of control begins to slip completely. Chaotic, bitingly funny, and laced with surreal dread, IF I HAD LEGS I’D KICK YOU is a nerve-shredding yet profoundly human exploration of anxiety, identity, and the impossible expectations of motherhood. The psychological black comedy also features standout performances from A$AP Rocky, Christian Slater and fellow Australian Danielle Macdonald.

Told through a series of video calls between Fatma and Sepideh, Hosanna paints an urgent visual diary of life in Gaza. Under the constant barrage of Israeli missile fire, Fatma embodies the resilience, strength and hope of her people. On 16 April 2025, the day after it was announced the film was to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, an Israeli missile killed Hassona and her family in what was alleged to have been a targeted assassination. Nagasaki, 1964. After the death of his father, the leader of a yakuza gang, gifted Kikuo (rising star Ryō Yoshizawa) is taken under the wing of famed Kabuki actor Hanjirō Hanai (played by the iconic Ken Watanabe, Memoirs of a Geisha, The Last Samurai). Alongside the great performer’s only son, Shunsuke (Ryūsei Yokohama), he dedicates his life to the artform – a centuries-old Japanese theatrical tradition known for its costumes, elaborate makeup and innovative stagecraft. Over the ensuing decades, against the backdrop of stunning stagings of classic Kabuki tales, the destiny of the two young disciples entwines and twists - from acting school to the most prestigious stages - and their hearts suffer as much yearning, scandal and glory as their on-stage alter-egos. Only one of them will become the master of the art. Based on the best-selling novel by Shūichi Yoshida, KOKUHŌ (which translates as 'National Treasure') stormed the Japanese box office in mid-2025, with demand escalating for months on the back of word of mouth, becoming a true cultural phenomenon. The film is currently ranked as the #2nd highest-earning live action drama in Japanese box office history.

Paul Mescal and Josh O’Connor deliver luminous performances in this sweeping, elegiac romance set against the backdrop of early twentieth-century America. Adapted from Ben Shattuck’s celebrated short story, the film follows Lionel (Mescal), a gifted farm-boy with synesthesia (a phenomenon that causes sensory crossovers), and David (O’Connor), a fellow music student he meets at the New England Conservatory in 1917. Their connection deepens through a shared devotion to folk music, yet the onset of World War I pulls them apart with David sent to the front lines and Lionel back to Kentucky. Reunited after the war, the pair embark on a journey through rural Maine, capturing voices and songs on fragile wax cylinders, preserving a vanishing cultural heritage even as their own lives diverge. Crafted with breathtaking restraint, Oliver Hermanus’ film of quiet textures and haunting silences, sees landscapes echo memory and sound itself becomes a vessel of longing. THE HISTORY OF SOUND is both an intimate love story and cultural elegy, a tender meditation on music, memory, and the ways love endures through loss.

The resounding audience pick of the 2025 Alliance Française French Film Festival, writer/director Emmanuel Courcol's wildly entertaining new comedy MY BROTHER'S BAND follows two siblings separated by fate and reunited by music. Thibaut (the exceptional Benjamin Lavernhe, ‘Delicious', 'C’est la vie!') is an internationally renowned orchestra conductor who travels the world. When a health crisis and subsequent DNA test inadvertently reveals that he was adopted as an infant, Thibaut discovers the existence of a younger brother, Jimmy (rising star Pierre Lottin), who lives in more modest circumstances; he works in a school cafeteria, cares for his mother and plays the trombone in a community brass band. The pair seem to have little else in common other than a love of performance, but sensing his sibling’s talent, Thibaut decides to remedy the injustice of fate and help nurture his brother’s gifts. An eruptive crowd favourite wherever it has premiered (notably receiving the highest audience score in the 51-year history of the San Sebastian Film Festival), MY BROTHER’S BAND is a rousing, feel-great trip to the cinema, expertly striking the perfect harmony between laughter and tears to celebrate family, community and the beauty and hope of collective spirit
