undertone
Release Date: Thursday 9th April
Winner of the Audience Award at the 2025 Fantasia Film Festival, UNDERTONE has quickly emerged as one of horror’s most compelling breakout stories, a chilling debut that audiences have championed as much for its craft as for the against-the-odds journey that brought it to the screen. When paranormal podcast host, Evy (Nina Kiri) receives a series of disturbing audio recordings, what begins as content quickly spirals into something far more sinister. Alongside her off-site-co-host Justin (Adam MiMarco), Evy attempts to decode the eerie messages only to find the line between performance and reality beginning to dissolve. As the recordings grow increasingly violent and inexplicable, Evy’s world begins to echo with the same terrifying patterns. Alone in her childhood caring for her ailing Mother (Michele Duquet), she is drawn to a psychological decent where every sound carries meaning and every silence feels like a warning. Tense, minimal and atmospherically relentless, UNDERTONE is a haunting exploration of grief, belief, and perception - where the most terrifying thing isn’t what you see, but what you hear.
